WHO ARE THE SOCCER PLAYERS IN THIS PICTURE?
Who can help us to identify this photograph? Who were the two captains of which teams and who was the referee? The ‘detective’ who manages to date and identify the picture receives five free entrance tickets to the Sportimonium as well as the museum catalogue.
Mister Pierre Savonet from Tienen, a close friend from our ‘golden Olympian’ Gaston Roelants, has donated this picture to the Sportimonium with the request to identify it. We have not been able to identify the photograph, but by comparing it with other pictures from that time period, we think that it should be situated around 1910. The gentleman with the Derby hat looks very much like baron Edouard de Laveleye, at that time the president of the Belgian football association and of the Belgian Olympic Committee.
