VICTOR BOIN

Contributing to preserving sporting memories through support for research, conservation of collections and awareness building…
Roger Boin, Victor Boin’s grandson, has recently created a fund to help in the preservation of sporting memories and memorabilia.
Victor Boin (1886-1974) was the first ever athlete to take the Olympic oath, at the Antwerp Games of 1920. He was a very versatile athlete, excelling in swimming, ice-hockey, water polo, fencing and ice-skating. He was also one of the first Belgian pilots, a renowned sports journalist and President of the Belgian Olympic Committee from 1955 to 1965.
The Victor Boin Fund aims to safeguard and promote Belgian sporting heritage through research, documentation, the conservation of collections, and awareness building and promotion among the general public. Within this framework, the Fund will support the projects submitted by Sportimonium in Hofstade. The Fund will also award the Victor Boin Nation Trophy to the best handicapped sportsman or sportswoman of the year.
